Diaphragm and Pelvic Floor Rhythm Breath

*Sound on for verbal instruction*

KEY POINTS

Your diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles move in a synchronized dance together. As you exhale, your diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles lift. As you inhale, your diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles descend.

Exhale and engage the muscles of pelvic floor. Contract maximally, both the front and the back, as if you are trying to stop the flow of urine and stop yourself from passing gas. Hold your contraction for 3 - 5 seconds.

Inhale, relax the pelvic floor contraction entirely. Relax your belly. Allow your diaphragm drop, pressing your abdomen down and out. Feel the muscles of your pelvic floor expand in response. You might have to consciously relax your belly and pelvic floor.
